While French cleats are commonly made of wood, our entire French cleat system collection uses an aluminum body for three distinct profiles: light, Z-bar, and flare. The shift to metal results in a much more expansive range in capacity (up to 750 lbs), making this selection an excellent catalogue for heavy-weight applications from artwork to flat-backed decor like mirrors. A pair of beveled picture hanging cleats, light but strong, interlocks and secures a mounted item with lab-tested shear strength, and its thin and long metal design distributes weight evenly while keeping no visible gap from the wall. All three cleat profiles are compatible with wooden frames, while metal frames are mounted with light cleats.
