Frequently Asked Questions
Q What are brass gallery rods and how do they work?
Brass gallery rods are components of a gallery hanging system. They have a special S-shaped profile that holds adjustable hooks called Monkey Hangers. The rod mounts to picture rail molding or a wall track, and frames hang from adjustable hooks that slide along the rod, making it easy to add, move, or swap frames without new wall holes.
Q How do I install brass gallery rods?
Gallery rods slide into picture rail hooks that are hooked over ogee molding, or mount into wall track brackets depending on your system. Complete kits include all mounting hardware. Individual rods and components are also available separately for expanding an existing system. For setup details, see our Gallery Systems Product Guide.
Q What lengths are gallery rods available in?
Our brass gallery rods are available in 3-foot and 5-foot lengths. White gallery rods are available in 4-foot lengths. Multiple rods can be placed end-to-end to cover longer wall spans.
Q What is a Monkey Hanger?
A Monkey Hanger is an adjustable hook that slides along a gallery rod. It hangs down from the rod and holds your frame's hanging wire or cord. You can slide it left or right along the rod and adjust it up or down to position your artwork. Available in brass and silver finishes.
Q Do I need picture rail molding to use brass gallery rods?
Not necessarily. Our brass gallery rod kits can work with existing ogee picture rail molding using picture rail hooks, or with our wall track systems that mount directly to any wall. Choose the system that fits your space.
