5 Creative Ways Customers Are Using Our Gallery Hanging Systems

We’ve lost count of how many times we’ve heard someone say they love the creative side of decorating but struggle when it comes to the picture hanging hardware. That part of the process seems so technical and utilitarian and, let’s be honest, a little boring. But to us, it’s the final, most satisfying punctuation to any project because it determines whether all that effort pays off. The moment you hang that frame, you’ll see how it ties everything together and completes your vision for the room.

Take our gallery hanging systems, for example. We can show you the gallery rods, track kits, and all the adjustable picture hangers and loop cables and go on and on about weight ratings and material compositions and the like, but the magic doesn’t really happen until you see it in action. When you see an artfully curated selection of artworks and photos stacked vertically on a cable or a rod, that’s when you’re able to fully appreciate how innovative the hardware really is.

With that, we’re excited to show you five stunning layouts our customers have shared with us using our gallery wall hanging hardware to serve as your inspiration for your next project. These customers range from home decorators and artists to interior designers, so hang on tight and get ready to see these innovative picture hanging systems in action!

The Picture Hang Solutions Customer Gallery

A gallery wall in an art studio

Jolaine is one of the many artists who’ve given Picture Hang Solutions hardware a try, and she was kind enough to share this photo of her studio wall art display. She’s using the brass gallery rod kit. While our gallery rods are designed to hook onto crown moldings, we know not every home has that feature, so the kit also comes with a 6-foot J-Channel wall rail to hold multiple rods at once.

What’s really fun about Jolaine’s setup is how she plays with the number of frames on each rod by switching up the length (we offer 3-foot and 5-foot rods). Her gallery layout spills across several walls, filled with animal portraits that bring a playful, creative energy to her studio space.

A bathroom wall with a vertical display of plants on wooden boards

We’re big fans of people who like to break out of strictly utilitarian space arrangements and find ways to make every part of their home a visual treat. We’re especially in awe of how Douglas changed up what these brass gallery rods were meant for and placed them in the bathroom to create this refreshing plant display. Douglas mentioned that they just put those tiles in (which look so tasteful and refined, by the way) when they remodeled the bathroom and didn’t want to ruin them, and these brass rods were long and sturdy enough to hold a plant board or two.

If you’re putting together a mixed media gallery wall , these gallery rods are a great choice for a couple of reasons. First, they sit flush against the wall, so your artwork won’t stick out awkwardly. Second, they’re paired with monkey hangers, one of the best adjustable picture hangers in the game.Monkey hangers clamp onto the rod and can handle up to 35 lbs per hook. That’s a lot of support for just one rod!

There’s nothing quite as timeless as a classic photo gallery wall filled with portraits and black-and-white white photographs. The gallery rod has a brass finish that ties everything together, adding a subtle nod to the allure of old-world art displays. James’ gallery wall has a vintage charm that adds a sense of history and sophistication to a nook that looks perfect for a quiet gallery wall spot.

Like we’ve mentioned, the brass gallery rod picture hanging system is best paired with monkey hangers. While Douglas spaced out the plant boards and only had 1-2 pieces on each rod, James shows us that the 5-foot rod can accommodate up to 4 pieces, with the monkey hangers spaced evenly behind the frames.

We’ve talked about art styling and how to make a gallery wall before. If you have a mix of frame sizes, an asymmetrical layout like Jolie's setup could be just the thing for you. The steel loop cables she used can support several frames on it, provided they’re held up with adjustable hangers.

The gallery cables themselves have a solid weight capacity of up to 44 lbs, so you’ll want to stick to 2-3 small to medium-sized frames per cable to keep everything secure. And if you’re lucky enough to have picture rails or crown molding at home, you can easily hook them up there with molding hooks for a clean, polished look.

The Standalone Gallery Steel Cable, or the Bullet Hanger as we like to call it, packs quite a punch for a small piece of hardware. In Tenley’s photo, you can see how it’s able to stack multiple pieces at once with just one anchor point on the wall. Unlike the gallery track kit or the brass rod kit, which rely on rectangular channels or tracks, the bullet hanger keeps things simple: it’s secured at just one spot with a sleek swivel cover to suspend the steel gallery cable without needing a track.
